"Dungeon Lord" has many different meanings throughout the Fate of Evania timeline.
The very first Dungeon Lord was Cosimir the Eternal, deemed as such as he was being looked down on by a pompous king who was trying to steal his betrothed.
As Cosimir gained power, he drove the rulers of the Evanian kingdoms underground, and having risen above his previous rank, now deemed each of the kings and queens of the land a "Dungeon Lord", to mock them in turn.
When Eli and his disciples defeat Cosimir before the start of The Lost Disciple, the Disciples themselves were hit with a curse as a negative side effect of Eli making the choice to not sacrifice himself, but instead take power.
These twelve animalistic humans (minus Faro who has thus far escaped Eli's control) now have the mission to take over the dungeon kingdoms and claim their title as "Dungeon Lord", finally moving the name from a slur to a badge of honor.
Now being a Dungeon Lord means you've completed your mission for the new high king, as seized a kingdom in his name.
Being a Dungeon Lord is the ultimate power for a disciple.
